What do women do on stage? No doubt: they love! Only to quickly die (drama) or to marry (comedy) while it is left to the others to be worn down by the world. So why is that? The debuts from three young directors will give rattling answers the one resounding questions: Who plays which role and why ‒ not only on stage.
Patrizia the pre-prime-time-serial professional and her friend Lenni who suffers from stagefright are ready to give it all they’ve got at the casting. After all it’s for the ultimate dream part: a movie about rebels, directed by nobody less than Lars von Trier himself. Cristal-clear scenes, perfect script, nothing can go wrong for both of them. Until the director gives fatal instructions and the unlikely heroines stumble helter-skelter into the adventure of their life. Hunting von Trier is a rock’n roll fairytale directed by Nora Abdel-Maksoud.
In Meine Ruh ist hin, mein Herz ist schwer. Hallo Revolutionär! a multimedia performance from Theresa Henning, it is the year 2017 and Gretchen is still imprisoned in a dungeon ‒ guarded by the culprit Faust. Between catwalk, women’s centre, video games and love she tries to make an escape. Gretchen is tired of passivity, Gretchen thinks her name is nonsense; Gretchen is fed up with Gretchen. It seems that there is just one way out: Escape and departure.
Run brother run by Salome Dastmalchi is looking behind the scene of a historical sporting event: World Cup 2006, Germany versus Italy. Reaching the final or failure broadcasted live. While prior to the second half the whole world holds its breath, the international players Henkel, Mate and Becks are busy debating questions of game strategy in the changing room. To keep a level head or coarse insults? Do they like their fans? Does he, who is taking a piss left outside, really win the fame? Insights into a sweaty miniature cosmos between vulnerability and dick waving contest.
In collaboration with Theaterscountings Berlin followed by a talk with the directors Theresa Henning, Salome Dastmalchi as well as actors at the event on March 11.
