BLACK BERLIN BLACK – UNITED POLYPHONIC TALK

THE RESILIENCE KNOWLEDGE OF BERLINERS OF AFRICAN HERITAGE AND ITS BLACK QUEER-FEMINIST FOUNDATION

With Maisha M. Auma, Katja Kinder and Peggy Piesche (ADEFRA Schwarze Frauen* in Deutschland e.V.)

In this discussion, Maisha M. Auma, Katja Kinder, and Peggy Piesche reflect on a seven-year process to implement the goals of the UN Decade for People of African Descent (2015–2024) in Berlin. At the conclusion of the decade, they take stock and shed light on the intersectional-feminist-inspired knowledge gathered during the process. This has contributed to deepening societal understanding of anti-Black racism. The panelists explain the role of Feminist Africans in Berlin in promoting the equality of people of African descent. Additionally, they discuss the systematization and institutionalization of Intersectional Black European Studies.
