Thais Nepomuceno

Thais Nepomuceno, born in Rio de Janeiro, took part in social and cultural programs at Lona Cultural Joao Bosco and Lona Cultural Jacob do Bandolim in her teenage years. It was here that she first came into contact with theater and became familiar with lighting and lighting design. In Berlin, she worked as a live video designer for the performance Black Power Naps at the Sophiensaele.

She also worked as a lighting designer on the productions Territory (2021) by Atilla Oener, Abdruckkörper (2022) by Yatri Niehaus, Eventually Causing the Shake (2023) by Lois Alexander, WERDEN (2023) by Magda Korsinsky, and Gira by Natasha Vergilio at Ballhaus Naunynstraße. Nepomuceno also works in film, including the project Unser Wald Brennt for the German TV channel ProSieben and the short documentary Frontlines Of All Kind by Navild Acosta and Fannie Sosa. In November 2021, Nepomuceno documented the session The Debating Chamber on Prototypes and Ominous Objects at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin. Her filmic work captured the atmosphere and discourse of the event and visually recorded the complex interactions. Her own film Herdeiros (Engl.: Heirs), which she researched, produced, directed and edited, premiered at Ballhaus Naunynstraße in January 2023.

In 2025, she participated in the Extended Cooperation theater workshop: the production developed there, for which she created the lighting design, has been part of the repertoire since fall 2025 under the title Your Baggage Unattended.
