Arel Dewi
Arel Dewi is an Indonesian filmmaker and visual artist. They received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design from the University of Applied Science Berlin. Their works often deal with the topic of LGBTQ+ and diasporic perspectives, which expand fluidly between film, experimental video, and performance. In 2022 they took part of a performance piece Symphony Of Intimacies by Nguyen Transitory as director of photography. In 2021 they wrote and directed a short film titled Memori Dia, which got into many international film festivals such as Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival 2022 and CinemaAsia Film Festival Berlin 2023.
At Ballhaus Naunynstraße, Dewi created the video design for Scar-City (2023), a production of akademie der autodiakten and directed RISKANT. Vögel aufscheuchen (2023).
