Echoes of the stones

A dance performance by Silvia Ospina

Counterdrafts. Like fine veins they run through the past, through everyday life and through dreams. Alternative drafts are needed for them to breathe; old and new ones.

Four women are at the pivot of Echoes of the Stones. Dancer and choreographer, Silvia Ospina has teamed up with the narrator, Aliza Yanes the musician and composer, Biliana Voutchkova and the video artist, Claire Fristot, in order to create her own artistic cosmos from her experiences. Vivid memories are necessary for a tomorrow; a dreamlike design is necessary for a meaningful yesterday. The development thereof arises from this circle.

Mountains, rivers, seas, heavenly bodies, animals and gods – the mythological counterparts of humans – were ripped from their symbolic orbits. Back then, when the conquistadors set sail. When they began to define all living things as material and used them dead or alive, according to the standards they set. The current crisis is giving birth to new forces – forces of the renewed repression, but also of resistance and self-determination. Echoes of the Stones is an invitation to step out of the familiar structure, to search for the old and new, circular collaborations.

„We could trust in the reality-forming forces of myths. Theatre is the space to tell matriarchal stories.” – Silvia Ospina

The dancer and choreographer, Silvia Ospina has been working on combining dance and video for years. Echoes of the Stones is her first full-length production at Ballhaus Naunynstraße.
